Can I Raise My Credit Score by 100 Points in 30 Days?

My passion is helping people achieve their dreams, and in my area of expertise, that means helping them achieve their financial dreams. (I can’t help with movie stardom dreams, sorry.) When I recently wrote a review of companies that can repair your credit, I got some interesting questions after.

The first response I had from people was “What if I want to do it on my own?” I answered that question, shortly after, and have another piece about how to raise your score in 30 days. After that, people asked, “Can I raise my score by 100 points in 30 days?”

Is it Possible?

In short, yes. Our world has infinite possibilities, and in that world, it is possible for a given person to raise their credit score by 100 points in 30 days. But that requires three factors are met, that sadly don’t apply to everyone.

Have a Low Enough Credit Score

Oddly enough, the chances of boosting your score by 100 points are better if your have a score in the 500s or lower. That’s because with a score that low, any increase will have an out-sized effect on your score.

No Charge-offs, No Repossessions, No Foreclosures

Unfortunately, these three factors are incredibly difficult to move around or past. If there are errors in these areas, it’s definitely worth contacting a credit repair company. However, if any of these three things are in your history for legitimate reasons, you probably won’t be able to boost your score by 100 points in only a month.

Have Enough Cash and Time

Like in a lot of areas in life, money talks. If you can secure a personal loan (check out my reviews at the top of this page) to pay off all or most of your credit card debt, and you can also add things to your score like rent or utilities, then you can see a significant boost to your score. Yes, even as high as 100 points.

For the Rest of Us

If you’re not sitting in the rare circumstance of having a low enough credit score, but also enough cash to pay off all your credit card debt, then there are some simple things you can do to boost your score in a relatively short time. I’d check out my article on how to do that yourself, or look to any of the great repair companies I mentioned earlier.
